Research Interest:

Quality of Care and Quality of Life in Underserved Breast Cancer Patients

Special populations, such as low-income, ethnic minority, or older breast cancer patients are vulnerable to receiving suboptimal breast cancer care, which may in turn impact on their quality of life and survival. This work examines what factors, at the patient-physician and health care system levels, are important to receiving the best available breast cancer treatment in these women. In addition, to studying what can be done at both these levels to improve care, we are studying what can be done to improve these patients' quality of life during and after treatment. This research will include the design and testing of interventions to improve quality of care and quality of life.
